Tests are the most important part of an R&D study.
EvoDis® Lightning Dissipation System is the first and the only lightning
protection system in Turkey that has been tested both
at high voltage laboratory and in nature.

_High Voltage Laboratory Tests

EvoDis® Lightning Dissipation System has been put in a 5 week test period for three different tests at Istanbul Technical University's High Voltage Laboratory. To make a difference from standart testing procedure and not to generate all lightning bolts from a single point, a 6x4 meters aluminum cloud model is used to have a minimum fault rate in data and results. Tests conducted ;
a) Starting discharge voltages for 300/2500 ms on and off pulse voltages,
b) Lightning arresting rates for all samples and Franklin Rod under the same

__electromagnetic circumstances,
c) Coronal emission current values.

_Field Tests

For the first time in lightning protection industry, MTO puts EvoDis® Lightning Dissipation System's reliability in a tough field test process. Installed on two towers of a gsm operator, EvoDis® System's performance is followed and recorded regularly through devices called lightning detectors. Boltek LD-250 model lightning detectors show the lightning situation over the test sites and record them on computers. Also both
sites have lightning counters installed on the tower legs. If a lightning strike is detected over the towers, MTO technicians check the counter. If the number on the counter is the

same before and after the lightning storm, it is counted as a lightning strike that occurred close to the test site but blocked by EvoDis® Lightning Dissipation System to avoid any damage on the tower.

Field tests are not limited with a period of time. These tests provide data for research and development studies of MTO and in case of detection of a failure, these tests will be beneficial to modification of products.
