EvoDis® is a great alternative to all known lightning protection solutions. E.S.E. systems, lightning rods, and Faraday Cage systems are all designed to attract lightning. They try to create a path for lightning from cloud to ground through the copper conductors but they increase the risk of lightning-related damage by attracting millions of volts on the protected structure. EvoDis® Lightning Dissipation System uses Charge Dissipation Principle. This principle is based on quickly emitting the positive charges through hundreds of sharp points instead of using a simple rod with a single point to attract lightning. This sysytem completely stops or in some cases delays the formation of positive upward streamers between the protected structure and the cloud by dissipating the concentration of the charges on the structure. This makes the protected structure “invisible” to lightning strikes.

GSM / Telecommunication / Radio-TV Towers:
Lightning usually affect the tallest and relatively sharp objects around because those react to the negatively charged stepped leaders faster and emit positive upward streamers (see lightning formation). Those structures are open to lightning strikes and can not be protected by lightning arresters because these type of products attract lightning and transfer the current through the tower body which damages the electronics (antennas, radoms, dishes, etc) as if the tower is not protected. Lightning current also damages the shelter and the electronics inside. Any station remaining out of service affects the load on the other sites linked to it and this may risk the operation of the other sites as well.
EvoDis® Lightning Dissipation System can be the only solution to protect a complete galvanized steel construction tower against lightning strikes. EvoDis® dissipates the positive charges on the tower, minimizes the risk of upward streamer formation and hence, creates a lightning-free environment for the tower and the shelter nearby. MTO technicians make a site survey and according to the data, design team prepares the proper application project for the structure. The designs show the EvoDis® models with the serial numbers and the placement of them. By this way, any technician can easily make the installation with the design and the instruction manual delivered with the products.
